Isaac Linden was originally from Brooklyn, New York, and still has the boroughs’ roots ingrained in him. Listening to Marv Albert call Knickerbocker games; watching the ‘69 and ‘86 Met’s championship; eating Nathan’s hot dogs and Mrs. Stahl’s knishes; cruising Kings Highway; and attending Madison High School make up a great part of his persona.
He attended the University of Buffalo from 1974 to 1977 where he spent much of his time consuming chicken wings and Molson’s ale at Duff’s on Millersport Highway. He played tight end for Franny’s Fighters, a top-five University league team.
He reluctantly left Buffalo in 1977 and accepted early admission to podiatry college in New York. After graduation, he did two years of postgraduate training in foot and ankle surgery.
For 37 years Linden had a private practice in South Florida and was the director of a three-year training program in foot and ankle surgery for 13 years. He eventually left private practice and joined a prestigious orthopedic group until physical ailments and impaired mental health issues forced him to retire prematurely. He also served as a lead physician and medical reviewer for various insurance companies. Additionally, Linden was an adjunct clinical professor at a nearby podiatry college and was a frequent lecturer and online educator.
Isaac was board-certified in wound care, foot and ankle surgery, and quality assurance utilization review. He has written extensively in medical journals and online education programs.
Since his retirement Linden regularly participates in Storytelling slams and recently shared one of his tales on National Public Radio. He has written both short stories and novels. Recreational basketball is no longer in the cards, so he is now a devoted fan of the Miami Heat.

Linden enjoys cooking and taking a daily swim. He and his wife seek out authentic ethnic restaurants, which are easily found in South Florida. He hopes in time to resume traveling, dining out, and hiking. In the interim there is always Netflix.
Isaac Linden is a retired surgeon and medical journal contributor who has experienced bipolar disease firsthand. Diagnosed at the age of sixty, Linden brings to the table a close-up look at the challenges of living with undiagnosed bipolar disease and the hope and strategies he utilized to achieve successful recovery. He covers a myriad of angles including unrecognized symptoms, self medicating, and the effects of stress in daily life, with a focus on those who are part of the support process.
He is the author of the highly reviewed title And Then I Was Bipolar: Reflections On Living Life Through A Skewed Lens.
Liden has spoken extensively at mental health programs and is involved with NAMI and other recognized mental health advocate systems.
